Interfaith Marriages, Class and Ethnicity in Israel
Language: English

Session: Marriages between Jews and Palestinians, both Christian and Muslim, are a scarce phenomenon in Israel. Yet, the importance of this phenomenon is not in its actual numbers but its social and political impact. This presentation focuses on Jewish women who married Palestinian men and analyzes how the women’s social-economic standing and ethnic origin play an important role not only in women´s choices and strategies but also in how the state categorizes and threats them.
